Connect CaptionBolt to your workflow
Use an AI assistant, your own application or project notifications to work with CaptionBolt videos.
Choose an integration
CaptionBolt integrations help you add captions to existing videos, check project progress and retrieve finished exports.
| Your goal | Start here | How you connect | | --- | --- | --- | | Work with CaptionBolt from an AI assistant | MCP setup | Install the local MCP server, then sign in through your browser | | Build an application or script that processes videos | REST API guide | Create an API key in CaptionBolt | | Notify your application when a project is ready, completed or failed | Webhook guide | Add your application's public HTTPS receiver |
Webhooks complement REST and MCP. They notify your application about a change so it can take the next step.
Before you start
Integrations are available on Max subscriptions. Sign in to CaptionBolt with the account whose projects you want to use.
Video processing through integrations uses your account's existing processing minutes, video limits and export permissions. There is no separate pool of API minutes. You can check your current balance and limits through the REST API or MCP.
Use Settings → Integrations to create API keys, manage MCP connections and configure Webhooks. MCP signs you in through the browser; it does not require an API key.
Work with your videos
The REST API accepts MP4, MOV, WebM and AVI uploads and can create caption projects from them. Your application uploads the file before creating the project; a remote video URL is not an upload input.
The local MCP server uploads a video you name from your computer, creates its caption project and saves the finished result next to the original. It can also inspect and manage projects created on the website. Remote MCP, for AI clients that cannot run local servers, manages the same projects but does not upload files from your computer or save results there.
Projects keep their original framing by default. Use the CaptionBolt Editor to review captions and make supported visual adjustments. These integrations work with video caption projects; they do not create standalone Transcripts projects.
Review or export automatically
Choose the workflow that fits your task:
- Review first:
reviewis the default. CaptionBolt prepares the video, then waits atready. Open it in the Editor, review and save your changes, then export. - Export automatically: explicitly choose
auto-exportwhen creating a project to produce the MP4 and subtitle files after processing finishes. This skips the review stop.
Exports use the latest saved changes. Unsaved Editor changes are not included. Finished exports can be downloaded through REST or MCP.
Get started
Open the MCP setup guide, REST API guide or Webhook guide for configuration steps and a first test.
For complete REST request and response schemas, use the API reference (opens in a new window) or OpenAPI document.
For MCP, open the MCP setup guide, copy its setup prompt and send it to an AI agent that can configure your client. For REST or Webhooks, select Copy for AI in the relevant guide and describe the application you want to configure. Use placeholders for secrets; enter actual keys only in your own environment.
