These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CaptionBolt ("the Service"), operated by CaptionBolt ("we," "us," or "our") at captionbolt.com.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

CaptionBolt is an AI-assisted short-form video tool. The Service allows you to:

  • Generate, edit, and style captions for your videos (AI Captions).
  • Extract short, publish-ready segments from longer videos (AI Viral Clips).
  • Automatically reframe landscape videos into vertical versions suitable for short-form platforms (AI Reframe).
  • Generate, edit, and export transcripts from your videos (AI Transcripts).
  • Produce dubbed audio tracks in additional languages (AI Dubbing).
  • Export finished videos (MP4) and subtitle files (SRT, ASS, VTT) depending on your plan.

CaptionBolt is designed as a focused workflow for enhancing and publishing video content you already have. It is not a general-purpose timeline editor, and does not provide transitions, visual effects, or multi-track editing.

2. Account Registration

2.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age of consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Service.

2.2 Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

2.3 Authentication Methods

The Service supports the following authentication methods:

  • Email/password — traditional credential-based authentication.
  • Passkeys (WebAuthn) — passwordless authentication using platform authenticators (such as device unlock or hardware security keys).
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) — an additional security layer you are encouraged to enable.
  • Google Sign-In — authentication through your Google account. By using Google Sign-In, you authorize us to access your basic Google profile information (email address, display name, and profile picture) for the purpose of creating and authenticating your CaptionBolt account. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

3. Plans, Pricing, and Payment

3.1 Available Plans

The Service offers multiple plan tiers, including a Free plan and paid tiers such as Starter, Pro, and Unlimited. Each tier provides access to a different combination of features (AI Captions, AI Viral Clips, AI Reframe, AI Transcripts, AI Dubbing), export formats, monthly usage allowances, and rendering priority.

The current features, usage limits, and pricing for each plan are listed on our pricing page at captionbolt.com/pricing. The pricing page is the authoritative source for what is included in each plan. We reserve the right to modify plan features and pricing with reasonable advance notice.

3.2 Payment Intervals

Paid plans are available in three payment intervals:

  • Monthly — recurring payment billed each month.
  • Yearly — recurring payment billed annually at a discounted rate.
  • Lifetime — a one-time payment granting perpetual access to the purchased plan's features.

3.3 Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By making a purchase, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

3.4 Usage Limits

Each plan includes monthly usage limits, which may be measured differently per feature (for example: minutes of video processed, number of generated clips, or number of dubbing languages). Specific limits for each plan are listed on our pricing page at captionbolt.com and reset at the beginning of each billing cycle. Lifetime plans also have monthly usage limits.

Unused allowances do not roll over to the next billing period.

3.5 Free Plan

Free accounts are subject to monthly usage limits and feature restrictions, including but not limited to a reduced set of caption styles, a CaptionBolt watermark on rendered video output, and restrictions on certain export formats (such as SRT, ASS, or VTT) and advanced features. The current Free plan allowances and restrictions are listed on our pricing page.

Free plan source videos and rendered output files are automatically removed from storage 30 days after they are created, as described in our Privacy Policy. Your transcripts, captions, and job metadata remain in your account.

No credit card is required for the Free plan.

4. Refund Policy

4.1 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with the Service for any reason, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date.

4.2 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, contact us at help@captionbolt.com with your account email address and the reason for your request. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method.

4.3 Refund Limitations

  • Refunds are available once per customer. Repeated purchase-and-refund behavior may be declined.
  • After the 30-day period, payments for monthly and yearly subscriptions are non-refundable.
  • Lifetime plan purchases are eligible for refund only within the 30-day window from the original purchase date.

5. Subscription Management

5.1 Cancellation

You may cancel your monthly or yearly subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from your account settings.

  • Monthly subscriptions — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid features until then.
  • Yearly subscriptions — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current annual billing period.
  • Lifetime plans — do not require cancellation, as there are no recurring charges.

5.2 Plan Changes

You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, and you will be charged the prorated difference. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period.

5.3 Failed Payments

If a recurring payment fails, we will attempt to process the payment again over the following days. If payment cannot be collected after multiple attempts, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan. Your data will be retained for 30 days, during which you may update your payment method and reactivate your plan.

6. User Content

6.1 Your Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you upload to or create with the Service, including your original video files, edited captions, and exported output files.

We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

6.2 License to Us

By uploading content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account.

6.3 Your Representations

You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights, consents, and permissions for any content you upload to the Service, and that your use of the Service with such content does not violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

6.4 Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Infringes on any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
  • Contains illegal material, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Contains malware, viruses, or any harmful code.
  • Is designed to abuse or overload the Service infrastructure.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these restrictions and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate them.

6.5 Content Processing

Your uploaded videos are processed by our AI systems for the sole purpose of producing the specific output you requested — captions, transcripts, clips, reframed versions, or dubbed audio tracks. We do not use your content to train AI models.

7. Organizations and Teams

7.1 Organization Accounts

The Service supports organization accounts that allow multiple users to collaborate under a shared workspace.

7.2 Organization Roles

Organization owners and administrators can invite members, assign roles, and manage organization-level settings and billing. Members have access to shared content within the organization based on their assigned role.

7.3 Organization Billing

Organization-level subscriptions are billed to the organization owner. Each member within the organization is covered by the organization's plan.

7.4 Leaving or Removing Members

Organization owners may remove members at any time. Members may leave an organization at any time. Removal or departure does not entitle the member to a refund of the organization's subscription.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or our infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service unless authorized by us.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service itself, or access to the Service, without our written permission. For clarity, this restriction does not limit your right to use, publish, monetize, or distribute videos, captions, transcripts, and subtitle files you create with the Service, subject to these Terms and any third-party rights.
  • Circumvent usage limits, watermarks, or other restrictions imposed by your plan.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.

Violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, caption style presets, and documentation, is owned by CaptionBolt and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

9.2 Caption Styles

Caption style presets provided by the Service are licensed for use within the Service only. You may freely use and distribute the captioned videos you create, but you may not extract, replicate, or redistribute the style definitions, templates, or rendering logic themselves.

9.3 Feedback

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us an unrestricted, perpetual license to use them without obligation to you.

10. Service Availability and Changes

10.1 Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

10.2 Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. For material changes that reduce the functionality of your current plan, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice.

10.3 Lifetime Plan Considerations

Lifetime plan purchases grant perpetual access to the features included in your plan tier at the time of purchase. If we materially reduce the features of your plan tier, you will retain access to the feature set you originally purchased, or we will offer a comparable alternative.

If we discontinue the Service entirely, lifetime plan holders will receive at least 90 days' advance notice and a prorated refund based on the time elapsed since purchase, or a minimum of 12 months of equivalent service value, whichever is greater.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will meet your specific requirements.
  • AI-generated output — including captions, transcripts, clip selection, reframing decisions, and dubbed audio tracks — will be error-free, complete, or meet your expectations.
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CaptionBolt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CaptionBolt, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any third party's rights.
  • Content you upload to the Service.

14. Termination

14.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data and uploaded content will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. In the case of termination for cause, you are not entitled to a refund.

For terminations not caused by your violation, we will provide reasonable notice and, where applicable, a prorated refund.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which CaptionBolt is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the applicable arbitration body in our jurisdiction.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
